Franz Xaver Ohnesorg

My dear Franziska, Constanza and Severin, How not to be devastated by the sudden loss of such a dear close friend as beloved Xaver. My heart goes out to you all because the shock of this loss is unimaginable and I cannot begin to imagine what you are all going through and I only hope God will give you strength at this terrible time. 

Xaver was such a light in our lives, Menahem's and mine, he was so supportive and kind and would make such efforts each year to share his birthdays with us, coming to his last 99th one and taking the trouble to come specially for the funeral. He was such a life-enhancer, warm and encouraging, and I remember a lovely lunch at home when he brought Constanza with him. It was not so agreeable for her as we served fish! I made a note that next time, we would not give fish! I am so sorry not to be able to stay for the funeral but a cannot cancel meetings I have in London on Monday 27th. I will of course send a donation in his beloved memory to the Cologne Chamber Orchestra. I will be coming as planned to the concert on November 25th when, instead of celebrating our beloved friend, we will be paying homage to his memory. Such a friend as Xaver never leaves us. His spirit will always be with us and I hope that with time you will feel it and be comforted by it. I hug you all and hope very much to see you and do so in person on Saturday. With love, Annabelle
